Genesis10 is currently seeking an Application Programmer with our client in the financial industry located in Chicago, IL. This is a 12+ month contract position that requires the ability to work in a high-pressure trading environment and assimilate information from multiple sources quickly. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who can adhere to strict procedures and guidelines, which include incident, service request, and change management. The role involves leading daily technical change meetings and managing global resources through the bank's change process. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating reports through presentation and analysis tools such as Tableau and MS Office. A well-rounded understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle is essential, along with the ability to advance written procedures and policies for Change Management. The candidate must possess the ability to quickly and independently develop expertise and rationalize the impact of multiple concurrent issues or requests, prioritizing work accordingly. An independent sense of motivation to continuously improve oneself and the environment is crucial, as is an intuitive problem-solving ability that leads to solution alternatives reflecting the analyst's diverse foundation of knowledge, skills, and experiences. Confidence, focus, and an adaptable communication style are required to effectively coordinate restoration efforts for high-impact technology incidents. The role also requires familiarity with operating systems such as Solaris, Linux, and Windows, as well as scripting languages including Unix Shell, Perl, Python, and SQL (intermediate level: multi-table joins, grouping results, etc.). A well-rounded understanding of infrastructure disciplines, including network, server, storage, and messaging, is also necessary.
