About the position

The 2nd Shift HR Generalist at Dollar General's Walton, KY Distribution Center is responsible for comprehensive human resources management for both hourly and salaried employees. This role involves employee relations, staffing, process management, training, and compliance, all under the guidance of the Senior Human Resources Manager. The HR Generalist will promote a positive work environment, manage recruitment processes, maintain HR records, and ensure compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct orientation and onboarding programs for new hires.
  • Promote an open-door policy and maintain a positive employee relations environment.
  • Plan, manage, and track employee recognition and incentive programs.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and activities for employees and the community.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports to resolve employee issues.
  • Assist supervisors in formulating disciplinary actions and conduct exit interviews.
  • Plan and coordinate recruitment of non-exempt applicants and develop recruiting strategies.
  • Manage internal job posting processes and partner with staffing agencies.
  • Maintain human resources records and prepare various reports for staff management.
  • Monitor compliance with record management requirements and audit HR records.
  • Prepare witness documentation and testify at unemployment hearings.
  • Facilitate HR leadership training on various topics including diversity and compliance.
  • Participate in safety team activities and monitor compliance with reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or Business Administration.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a progressively responsible HR generalist position without a degree, or 3 years in a managerial HR position with a degree.
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource principles and practices.
  • Strong skills in employee relations, hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and HRIS systems such as Lawson and Kronos.
