About the position
The 2nd Shift Machine Operator is responsible for tending to one or more machines that automatically process metal wire and strip. This role involves following verbal or written instructions to ensure the production of metal parts meets specified quality standards. The operator will perform various tasks including machine operation, quality inspection, and maintenance, while adhering to safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Examine wire stock with a micrometer to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Start machines that automatically produce metal parts.
- Check the first piece for compliance to specifications at the start of each changeover.
- Measure parts for conformance to specifications using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and load testers per control plan.
- Control and maintain production speeds.
- Maintain appropriate production, maintenance, tooling, and quality records.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and ensure cleanliness of the department and surrounding work area.
- Follow safety guidelines in the operation of equipment.
- Operate equipment with safety features in working condition.
- Perform secondary operations to parts including inspection, setting, assembly, or packaging.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
