About the position
The 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Maintenance department's operations during the second shift (2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) at the Grafton facility. This role involves managing repair, construction, and preventive maintenance schedules to ensure maximum availability of production equipment and facilities. The supervisor will also focus on cost-effective operations, workforce training, and safety improvements within the plant.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and control cost-effective methods of operation for the Plant Maintenance Department.
- Maximize availability of tools and equipment in the plants through prompt and reliable maintenance.
- Ensure a well-trained and properly motivated workforce and supervisory staff.
- Develop safe and well-maintained departmental areas.
- Initiate operating improvements through innovative maintenance techniques.
- Manage and control the preventative maintenance program on the plant and equipment.
- Contribute to the Company current and long-range budgetary equipment rehabilitation programs consistent with Company objectives.
- Effectively interpret and administer the Company and bargaining unit document consistent with good management procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and/or technical certification and/or equivalent work experience.
- Thorough technical and mechanical knowledge.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of heavy industry mechanical systems including High Pressure Hydraulics, furnaces, and Grit Blasting equipment.
- Preferred 4 years' experience in Heavy Manufacturing (Steel making, automotive or forging preferred).
- Union shop experience preferred.
- Experience in maintenance planning and CMMS system a plus.
- Basic electrical maintenance skills.
- Basic computer skills: data management and analysis; word processing; spreadsheets, email, and internet.
