About the position

The 2nd Shift Technician, Maintenance position at Richelieu Foods involves observing mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble, fabricating, disassembling, and assembling production equipment to access and remove defective parts. The technician will adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, repair or replace defective parts, lubricate and clean parts, and initiate purchase orders for parts and machines while documenting hours worked on applicable work orders. The role also includes performing preventative maintenance on all equipment, troubleshooting and repairing processing, filling, and packaging production equipment, welding, performing sheet metal work, and employing basic shop floor skills such as using a lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools. Additionally, the technician will install, move, and relocate machinery/equipment according to blueprints and other drawings, read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals, and perform other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot/repair processing, filling, and packaging production equipment.
  • Weld, perform sheet metal work, and employ basic shop floor skills.
  • Install, move, and relocate machinery/equipment according to blueprints and other drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years' experience in an industrial maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices.
  • Experience in inspection of all included above and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection.
  • Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP's and SQF audits.
