About the position
The Picker/Packer 2 position at Sally Beauty Corporate is a vital role within the Distribution Centers, focusing on the efficient picking and packing of products to ensure timely movement in and out of stock locations. This position is classified as an intermediate level, requiring the individual to be proficient in all duties associated with the Picker/Packer 1 role. The primary goal is to handle products safely, minimizing damage while maximizing productivity. The job involves following detailed Standard Operating Procedures for various tasks, including Order Pulling, Packing Orders, Stocking, and Special Operations such as Deal Breaks and RGA processing. In this role, the employee will engage in activities that may include both Radio Frequency and paper-based picking, utilizing various types of equipment to transfer products throughout the distribution center. Responsibilities also extend to packaging and shipping products to stores or salons, and working in specialized areas such as the Hospital QA Lane, Packing Lane, Store Sorting, UPS Line, and Wrap Stage. The employee will also be involved in the RGA process, inspecting returned products for accuracy and damage, and ensuring that all work areas are maintained to provide optimal customer service. Safety is a critical aspect of this position, as employees are expected to perform their duties in a safe manner, report potential hazards, and maintain good housekeeping practices. Productivity standards must be met based on assigned tasks, and the employee may be required to perform additional duties as requested by management.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently pick and pack products in accordance with established procedures.
- Utilize Radio Frequency or paper-based picking methods to obtain and transfer products.
- Package and ship products to stores or salons, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Engage in Special Operations tasks, including deal break processes and product returns.
- Inspect returned products for piece count and damage, comparing them to accompanying paperwork.
- Stock products using various equipment, ensuring accurate placement and organization.
- Maintain a safe work environment and report any potential hazards to management.
- Meet productivity standards based on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in a distribution/warehouse environment or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in performing Picker/Packer 1 job duties.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes and interruptions.
- Capability to work with limited supervision.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain neat and accurate records.
- Basic arithmetic skills and the ability to read and interpret orders and product descriptions.
