This role is essential for the smooth operation of the unloading process and requires a strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. In addition to documentation and communication, the Potato Receiver will perform operational duties such as backing semi-truck trailers onto unloading lifts and preparing samples for quality testing. This includes collecting 1-2 buckets of potatoes, gathering physical data, and delivering samples to the lab for acceptance testing. The role also involves unloading potatoes and oil, sweeping out empty trailers post-unloading, and conducting weekly cleaning of unloading and warehouse areas to ensure a safe and clean working environment. The Potato Receiver will operate a forklift to manage potato waste hoppers and load starch totes into semi-trailers. This position requires the ability to drive and maneuver semi tractor-trailer combinations safely in various conditions. Housekeeping and safety are paramount, and the Potato Receiver must maintain cleanliness in the warehouse and unloading dock while adhering to all safety policies and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Additional duties may be assigned by the Supervisor to support operational needs, making this a dynamic and essential role within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Collect required paperwork from truck drivers for incoming loads.
  • Communicate with truck drivers and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
  • Back semi-truck trailers onto unloading lifts.
  • Collect and prepare samples for testing, ensuring quality and acceptance before unloading.
  • Enter load information into the computer system and attach work orders as necessary.
  • Collect 1-2 buckets of potatoes, gather physical data, and prepare samples for testing.
  • Deliver all samples to the lab for acceptance testing.
  • Perform tasks associated with unloading potatoes and oil.
  • Sweep out empty trailers post-unloading and keep unloading areas free of debris.
  • Conduct weekly cleaning of unloading and warehouse areas.
  • Operate a forklift to empty potato waste hoppers and load starch totes into semi-trailers.
  • Drive and back up semi tractor-trailer combinations in various conditions.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the warehouse, unloading dock, and related areas.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to support operational needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job physically.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive and back up semi tractor-trailer combinations.
  • Certification as a forklift driver or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Proficiency in reading and completing paperwork accurately.
  • Basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Strong attendance record and reliability.
