About the position

The Associate Principal of Technology Operations plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the processes and procedures within the Production environment. This position is pivotal in transitioning the operational posture from a reactive to a proactive stance, ensuring that best practices for operational readiness are consistently followed. As a technical liaison, you will collaborate with various teams to drive improvements and ensure that the production environment operates smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on various aspects of production performance, including Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities related to capacity and critical-path processing. You will employ first-level incident identification and resolution techniques to address any interruptions that may occur across multiple platforms, including Mainframe, Linux/UNIX, Windows, Storage, and Network systems. Monitoring applications and systems using approved software will be a key part of your daily tasks, as will responding to alerts in accordance with established Quality Standards and Security Policies. Documentation is also a critical component of this role; you will be expected to report and document any processing anomalies using tools such as Service Now or Remedy. Maintaining accurate processing records and logs is essential, as is the ability to escalate production incidents to second-level support when necessary to ensure timely resolutions. This position requires a strong technical background and a commitment to continuous improvement in the production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on shifting the overall operational posture from reactive to proactive.
  • Analyze and report upon Production performance CI opportunities.
  • Analyze and report upon Production capacity CI opportunities.
  • Analyze and report upon Production critical-path processing CI opportunities.
  • Employ first-level Incident identification and resolution techniques to address interruptions across Mainframe, Linux/UNIX, Windows, Storage and Network platforms.
  • Monitor multiple applications and systems using approved software.
  • Monitor and respond to applications/systems alerts across all platforms in accordance with Quality Standards and/or Security Policies.
  • Report and document any processing anomalies utilizing approved software (Service Now/Remedy).
  • Maintain processing records and logs.
  • Escalate Production Incidents to Second-Level support as required per policy to ensure a timely resolution.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles.
  • Understands technical monitoring and metrics.
  • Sophisticated understanding of enterprising technology.
  • Understanding of Scheduling (UC4/Control-M).
  • Network knowledge.
  • Unix/Linux experience.
  • Windows experience.
  • Storage knowledge.
  • Mainframe experience.
  • MQ (stop/start/recycle) knowledge.
  • Mature understanding of the relationship between software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of Clearing and Finance industry.
  • Knowledge of Application life cycle and deployment.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of OS390 JCL and IBM utilities experience.
  • 5+ years working in a multi-platform environment including Windows, Linux/Unix and Storage.
  • Strong network knowledge heavily favored.
  • 5+ years working knowledge of an open systems scheduling product (UC4).
  • 3+ years work knowledge of cloud environment.
  • DevOps experience desired but not required.
