About the position
The 2nd Shift Skilled Machine Operator at PCS Technical Services is responsible for coordinating the setup, adjustment, and operation of die casting machines to ensure the production of high-quality automotive parts. This role involves monitoring machine parameters, performing routine maintenance, and training co-workers on equipment operation and maintenance tasks. The position requires a strong background in machining and manufacturing, with a focus on precision and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the setup, adjustment, and operation of die casting machines.
- Mount, align, and secure die sections in the machine.
- Connect cooling hoses and adjust the die cooling system.
- Monitor and adjust machine parameters such as aluminum feed rate and timing cycles.
- Cycle the machine to check adjustments and ensure proper closing of die sections.
- Maintain lubricant levels in dies and on the plunger for clean mold releases.
- Clear knock-out pins and make routine machine adjustments as needed.
- Operate the machine to make trial shots and note quality issues.
- Diagnose machine troubles and make appropriate adjustments.
- Train co-workers to operate die casting equipment and perform minor repairs.
- Complete quality check sheets.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive.
- Minimum 3 years of advanced/skilled machine setup and operations required.
- Intermediate math skills.
- Proficient in production techniques, processes, and methods.
- Must pass a drug test and background check.
Nice-to-haves
- Grinding and polishing experience preferred.
- Blueprint reading experience preferred.
