About the position
The Warehouse Material Handler I position at Phoenix Metals involves performing essential tasks related to the processing and distribution of metals. This role requires practical knowledge of warehouse operations and the ability to operate specialized equipment. The primary focus is on inventory management, order fulfillment, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Move inventory or equipment and fill customer orders.
- Pull material from racks and unload incoming material.
- Load trucks and customer vehicles, assisting in warehouse upkeep.
- Receive and place items into stock inventory locations.
- Pull and assemble orders based on work/shipping orders or documentation.
- Tag material for proper identification and complete required documentation.
- Move material using forklift, side loader, or crane.
- Operate yard truck for loading and unloading trailers.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Sort and place material on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences.
- Conduct spot checks on inventory and complete daily checks for proper tagging of material.
- Report any irregularities to the supervisor.
- Restock material as needed.
- Occasionally drive a motor vehicle for local deliveries and parts pick-ups.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
- High School diploma/GED preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Ability to meet Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by regulations.
- Certification to operate required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
- Clear oral and written communication skills required.
- Adequate manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination required.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- Basic measurement and arithmetic skills required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge and experience required.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required.
Nice-to-haves
- Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
