About the position

The 2nd Shift Cutter Operator at Sargento is responsible for operating string extruders and string cutters in the production area while maintaining high food quality and safety standards. This full-time position requires a punctual self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. The role involves monitoring production processes, ensuring product specifications are met, and communicating effectively with various departments.

Responsibilities

• Operate string extruders and string cutters in the production area.
• Maintain high food quality and food safety standards.
• Operate RDS System and brine flume to maintain temperature and salinity.
• Report brine system, string extruders, and brine chiller issues to production and maintenance departments.
• Set up and inspect work area for cleanliness and readiness.
• Monitor extruded cheese to ensure proper weight and length specifications.
• Maintain and document daily cutter operations log.
• Communicate with packaging department about products and product flow.
• Communicate with production about products, product flow, product quality, and concerns.
• Work with sanitation to disassemble mixers, mixer pipes, string extruders, and store end-of-the-day product.
• Add salt to the brine system.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED/HSED) required or minimally enrolled with anticipated completion in 12 months or less.
• Prior manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Willingness to complete forklift certification upon hire.
• Ability to learn and carry out lock out tag out procedures as required.
• Ability to occasionally lift 10-80 lbs.
