About the position

The 3D Designer position at TechniPower, Inc. involves creating and managing 3D models for structural and electrical design projects in the power, utility, and telecommunication sectors. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely project deliverables, including 2D layouts and plans derived from 3D models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in BIM modeling and proficiency in relevant design software.

Responsibilities

• Create, manage and troubleshoot 3D models.
• Integrate contractor models for project coordination and drawing development.
• Create 2D layouts, plans, sections, details and other model derived drawings of structural and/or electrical systems.
• Work with laser scan data on retrofit projects.
• Interface and collaborate with other design team members, vendors, contractors and clients.
• Assist in material takeoffs and detail design.
• Determine project scope of work and man-hour estimates.
• Travel (5% annually) to gather field data to assist in structural and/or electrical designs.
• Create project redlines on drawings, submittals and other project documents.
• Communicate with project managers and other design team members when tasks are completed to take on more work.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of 3D-modeling and design experience.
• Proficiency with one or more of the following software: Aveva E3D, Autodesk Revit or Plant 3D, and/or Civil 3D.
• Experience using Navisworks is preferred.
• Drafting experience including incorporating design comments.
• Knowledge of modern principles and practices of structural and/or electrical engineering.
• Ability to prepare plans and drawings derived from 3D models.
• Ability to construct neat and accurate 2D deliverables adhering to company standards.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and organize work to meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Civil, Structural and Electrical plans.
• Understanding of a drawing's lifecycle from creation through construction, including drawing revisions and archiving.
• Ability to review contractor submittals for conformance with design documents.

Nice-to-haves

• 5-10 years of BIM modeling experience.
