About the position

The 3D Lab Technician at RLA Engineering, LLC is responsible for supporting engineers in the development and testing of electro-mechanical hardware and software in a lab environment. This role involves executing assigned tasks, defining test plans, running tests, and troubleshooting lab equipment, while also fabricating projects using 3D printing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Get and execute assigned tasks from engineers
  • Define test plans to capture requested data
  • Run test scripts and collect test reports
  • Modify/blue wire circuit boards to run unique tests
  • Run hardware tests on circuit boards and draft test report
  • Support lab environment operations
  • Help calibrate test equipment
  • Help troubleshoot faulty lab equipment
  • Help revise lab SOPs and reports templates as requested
  • Help troubleshoot design under test (DUT)
  • Run A:B testing to determine potentially defective DUT
  • Use benchtop test equipment and hand tools to find root cause
  • Draft reports on observations and findings
  • Occasionally work 40+ hours in a week to meet certain team milestones
  • Fabricating projects using 3D printing/additive manufacturing technologies
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent; Preferred Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
  • 3-5 years of experience in a lab technician role
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with 3D printing and prototyping
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with CAD Software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Creo)
  • Experience using benchtop test equipment such as oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, function generator, logic/network analyzer, thermal camera
  • Experience testing high speed circuits on PCBs considering signal integrity
  • Experience using circuit schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro, Altium
  • Experience developing, modifying, and running test scripts via PowerShell, Python
  • Experience using hand tools (soldering iron) to hack/blue wire breadboard circuits and components on PCBs
  • Experience following lab SOPs and using templates for reports/presentations
  • Experience working in a data center environment preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Basic understanding of coding (Linux, etc.)
