About the position
The 3D Modeling Intern at Disney Consumer Products is responsible for creating character artwork for three-dimensional product applications. This role involves working on various projects under general supervision, contributing to the development of innovative consumer products based on Disney's beloved franchises. The intern will collaborate with a dedicated team of 3D modelers, maintaining high-quality standards while meeting project expectations under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Develop 3D character models for consumer products across multiple properties and product types.
- Prepare computer files accurately for manufacturing processes according to client/vendor specifications.
- Archive all project files following the standards established by the 3D Team.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers for rapid prototyping and high-resolution outputs for manufacturing.
- Contribute to new product ideas and participate in brainstorming sessions.
- Maintain high character art standards.
Requirements
- Demonstrate high-quality 3D modeling skills in ZBrush.
- Possess strong creative digital literacy in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Understand the principles of cartooning and cartoon animation.
- Have a baseline knowledge of Character Art.
- Previous exposure to multiple mediums (sculpting, painting, and traditional/digital drawing).
- Proven strong concepting skills.
- Passion for Disney Characters and Storytelling and how it translates to products.
- Fresh and inventive creative problem solver.
- Understanding and awareness of marketplace trends.
- Able to present creative concepts in both formal and informal settings.
- A portfolio submission that clearly demonstrates the ability to translate 2D concept to 3D.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in Cinema 4D.
- Proficiency in hard surface modeling in one of the following: Maya, Solidworks, Rhino3D.
