About the position

Salisbury Academy is seeking a part-time school counselor to support students in grades 3K-8th by addressing their social and emotional needs. The counselor will work closely with students, families, and staff, providing personal counseling, teaching social-emotional wellness classes, and coordinating family education programs. This role is integral to the leadership and academic teams, ensuring a supportive environment for all students.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal counseling to individual students and small groups.
• Develop and teach Social-Emotional Wellness (SEL) curriculum and classes.
• Consult with teachers and parents regarding student needs and progress.
• Serve as a resource for faculty and staff, providing professional development on relevant topics.
• Coordinate parent/family education programs focusing on adolescent development and healthy lifestyles.
• Act as a liaison for community referral resources, recommending local educational and psychological resources.
• Maintain confidential student records and assist in managing other confidential information.
• Participate in the Student Accommodations Plan team to support students' needs.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in school counseling or a related field is required.
• Experience counseling school-age children is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to create a differentiated environment to support individual student needs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a team.

Nice-to-haves

• Valid School Counseling Certification license.
• Valid Counseling Certification certification.
• Experience in writing skills.
