About the position

Join Peckham as a 3PL Forklift Operator, where you will play a crucial role in our nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization. We specialize in providing vocational rehabilitation and training opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities and other barriers to employment. This position is open to all abilities, but we prioritize individuals with disabilities. As a Forklift Operator, you will work in a large warehouse environment, receiving items from delivery trucks and placing them in the appropriate storage areas. You will also be responsible for picking items for outbound shipments, sorting inbound shipments, and manually loading or unloading trucks. Accuracy and speed are essential in this role, as you will be using a hand-held radio frequency unit to direct your tasks and must verify that items are placed correctly in the warehouse. You will also be required to key in information from stock received to produce labels for those items. In this position, you will work relatively unsupervised throughout the day, which requires a high level of responsibility and self-motivation. You will be expected to maintain warehouse equipment according to the manufacturer's standards and work with your supervisor to meet performance standards. Safety and cleanliness in the working environment are paramount, and you will be using various equipment, including fork trucks, reach trucks, push carts, and motorized pallet jacks. Training support for peers may also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
