About the position

The Banking Specialist II position at First Bank is designed for individuals who excel in client service and transaction handling at the teller window. This role involves opening new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and assisting clients with various banking products and services. The specialist will also engage in sales activities, support compliance measures, and contribute to the bank's community goals, all while fostering a client-friendly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent client service by accurately and expeditiously opening new accounts and other products for clients.
  • Maintaining accounts and products as requested and authorized by clients.
  • Quoting rates, terms, and fees on products and services, providing necessary disclosures as required.
  • Expanding the use of alternative delivery systems by explaining their merits to clients.
  • Identifying borrowing needs and originating consumer loan applications.
  • Assisting in the processing of loan applications and closing.
  • Increasing sales and cross-sell opportunities through participation in sales events and promotional activities.
  • Greeting clients courteously and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
  • Processing client transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Performing various compliance tasks including cash audits and monthly security reports.
  • Following security, regulatory, and audit procedures to protect the interests of the bank and clients.
  • Balancing assigned cash drawer daily and reporting any discrepancies to management.
  • Coaching Banking Specialist I on products, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Identifying sales opportunities and referring clients to appropriate areas.
  • Conducting calls on maturing accounts and following up on leads to retain and obtain client relationships.
  • Cultivating relationships with retail store associates to drive branch profitability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 months previous client service experience preferred
  • Previous cash-handling experience required
  • Previous banking experience strongly preferred
  • NMLS registration preferred
  • Developed customer service skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Ability to use a PC and alpha/numeric keyboard
