About the position

The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group (Group 33) at MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a Specialist - Integration Test Engineer to support multiple programs focused on the development and demonstration of advanced sensor systems and command and control (C2) architectures for the U.S. Government. This role involves integrating RF hardware and software, planning, conducting, and supporting field testing in various locations both within the continental United States (CONUS) and overseas. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative research environment that emphasizes teamwork and communication, as well as hands-on experience with mechanical and software skills related to RF integration techniques. The position requires a specialist who can perform system integration and provide test support, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting equipment and modifying software as needed. The role also involves significant travel, with expectations of two to four weeks of travel twice a year to test venues. Candidates should have prior experience testing on airborne platforms and be comfortable using RF test equipment. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with colleagues, sponsors, and other research sites, as the position requires heavy interaction as part of a team. The group is known for its expertise in various technical fields, including radar systems analysis, adaptive sensor array and signal processing, RF and optical systems, and real-time software techniques. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities for local, national, and international field testing and data collection to validate new concepts for real-time prototype implementation and systems analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system integration and provide test support for multiple programs.
  • Integrate RF hardware and software components effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, or related technical field, or 5-7 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Competence with PC, using Windows 10-based software.
  • Hands-on mechanical and software skills.
  • Hands-on RF integration techniques.
  • Ability to use and understand RF test equipment.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, sponsors, and other research sites.
  • Experience with installation and operation of equipment in an airborne environment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
