About the position

The Receiver/Inventory Control Manager & Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for managing the receipt of store products, ensuring accuracy in deliveries, and maintaining inventory control. This role emphasizes customer service, effective communication with vendors, and adherence to company policies regarding product handling and safety. The position requires a proactive approach to managing inventory, preventing shrinkage, and training employees for advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Receives all DSD deliveries and logs them into the computer system.
• Breaks down loads from DSD suppliers and transports products to appropriate storage areas.
• Verifies orders against invoices and audits product cases for cost control and quality assurance.
• Maintains invoices and reports according to the record retention schedule.
• Reviews and accepts only proper orders from outside sales representatives.
• Prevents shrink, damage, and spoilage of products, and manages damaged products accordingly.
• Responsible for the security, sanitation, and organization of receiving and storage areas.
• Operates equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, balers, and compactors.
• Trains employees in store policies and procedures, identifying those with potential for advancement.
• Ensures compliance with company grooming standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills and knowledge of weights and measures.
• Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to approximately 60 lbs.
• Knowledge of product handling, perishability, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitious movements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in inventory management or retail operations.
• Familiarity with electronic receiving systems.
