About the position

The IP Operations Specialist role is a critical position within the IP Operations team, designed to support the broader IP Group in managing all aspects of global patent portfolio management. This position is situated in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where the specialist will be responsible for various tasks related to patent prosecution and docketing. The role requires a deep understanding of patent processes and the ability to navigate complex legal frameworks effectively. The specialist will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure that all patent-related activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with company policies. In this role, the IP Operations Specialist will leverage their expertise in patent docketing systems and tools to manage the patent portfolio effectively. This includes maintaining accurate records, managing deadlines, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is filed in a timely manner. The specialist will also be responsible for database management, which involves updating and maintaining patent databases to reflect the current status of patents and applications. Additionally, the role will involve vendor correspondence, where the specialist will communicate with external partners to facilitate patent prosecution and address any issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. They must be an independent and strategic thinker, capable of managing conflicting priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Given the sensitive nature of the information handled in this role, strict adherence to confidentiality policies is paramount. The position may also involve participation in various projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the IP Operations team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of patent-specific legal experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate.
  • Experience with patent prosecution at a large law firm or in-house corporation is preferred.
  • Experience with patent docketing systems and tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Anaqua is a plus.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities efficiently.
