About the position

The West Contra Costa Unified School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate 3rd Grade Dual Immersion Spanish Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This position involves teaching a diverse group of students in various subjects including reading, language arts, mathematics, social science, general science, health, art, physical education, and music. The teacher will utilize the course of study adopted by the Board of Education to develop engaging programs and instructional materials tailored to meet the individual needs of each pupil. In this role, the teacher will establish effective procedures and techniques to maintain a conducive learning environment, ensuring that students are engaged and motivated. Regular evaluation of students' academic and social growth is essential, and the teacher will keep accurate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress. Collaboration with professional staff to identify and address pupil needs is a key component of this position. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining attendance records, administering group standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing programs, and performing reasonable non-teaching duties as assigned. Participation in curriculum development and related programs at both the school and district levels is expected. Additionally, the teacher may plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals. Continuous professional development is encouraged to maintain and enhance teaching competence.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students in various subjects including reading, language arts, mathematics, social science, general science, health, art, physical education, and music.
  • Develop programs and instructional materials to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Establish procedures and techniques for maintaining proper control to enhance learning.
  • Create and maintain a suitable learning environment.
  • Evaluate pupils' academic growth and observable social growth, keeping appropriate records and preparing progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents on individual pupil progress.
  • Identify pupil needs and work towards fulfilling those needs with the assistance of available professional staff.
  • Maintain attendance records and administer group standardized tests in accordance with District and State testing programs.
  • Perform reasonable non-teaching duties as assigned.
  • Participate in curriculum and related programs within the school and at the District level.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
  • Must have one of the following certifications issued by CTC authorizing primary language instruction in Spanish: Bilingual Authorization, BCLAD, Bilingual Cross-Cultural Specialist Credential, or Bilingual Certificate of Competence.
  • Complete an EdJoin application.
  • Submit a letter of interest and a current resume.
  • Provide a Credential-Clear or Preliminary, Multiple Subject.
  • Submit a copy of Spanish BCLAD and English Learner Authorization (CLAD or equivalent).
  • NCLB Compliance is required.
  • Provide a copy of transcripts showing evidence of a BA degree.
  • Submit a copy of CBEST and CSET.
  • Provide 2-3 letters of recommendation.
  • Must provide TB results completed within the last year.
