About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Elementary School Teacher to join our team at Osborne Elementary. This position plays a vital role in shaping the minds and futures of young students, requiring strong communication skills, the ability to create engaging lesson plans, and a commitment to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
  • Show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the students.
  • Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in a fair manner.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes when required.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, and evaluate their job performance.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence through participation in district staff development and meetings.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.
  • Certification in EC-6 or 4-8 ELAR is required.
  • Proven experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management.
  • Strong knowledge of learning technologies and their integration into the classroom.
  • Experience with teaching students is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively manage student behavior and create a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management.

  • Experience with teaching students is a plus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
