About the position

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a 3rd grade General Education Teacher to work on a contractual basis in New Bedford, MA. The teacher will support a diverse group of approximately 25 students in an inclusion classroom, implementing daily instructional plans and maintaining a conducive learning environment. This position is essential for fostering student growth and achievement during the 2024/2025 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated
  • Creates and implements the instructional plans in accordance with the district curriculum
  • Maintains a classroom climate that is conducive to learning
  • Maintains reasonable rules which encourage self-discipline and responsibility
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of the school curriculum and goals
  • Implements a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
  • Acquaints self with and adheres to the policies and procedures as established by the Board of Education and Administration
  • Creates and implements response to Intervention programs as needed
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
  • Serves as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism
  • Holds and communicates high expectations of student achievement and behavior
  • Attends staff meetings and IEP Meetings as requested by the district
  • Meets expected standards of professional behavior
  • Administers assessments on a timely basis as directed by administration
  • Communicates effectively with parents when needed
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction as prescribed in the daily instructional plans
  • Maintains a professional and positive rapport with parents/co-workers/administration/School Board
  • Supervises classroom students, paraprofessionals and volunteers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Required)
  • State Certification in Education (Preferred)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills (Required)
  • Prior experience working as a lead teacher (Preferred)
  • One year of experience as a school teacher (Preferred)
  • Ability to read and implement instructional plans
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
