About the position

The N.O. General Bakeshop Helper position is a vital role within our Bakery Department, where you will be engaged in a variety of tasks that support the production of our beloved baked goods. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to a dynamic team and are willing to learn and adapt to various roles within the Bread and Roll Departments. Your responsibilities will include utility tasks, scaling, sorting, mixing, operating the divider, roll/hearth line, oven/proofer, and packaging set-up. You will also be involved in pan stacking, lidding and de-lidding bread pans, and may be required to perform moulder, straightener, slicer, and packager assignments as needed. This role requires a mechanical aptitude and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously, ensuring that you are physically prepared for the demands of the job. In this position, you will work closely with Operators to meet daily schedule attainment goals and will be expected to adhere to all Denver Safety Programs and policies. You will support and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Quality Programs, completing required quality checks and related paperwork accurately and timely. Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized work area is essential, and you will fully support all 5S initiatives. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, as you will need to collaborate with Operators on other shifts, Maintenance personnel, Supervisors, and other employees to ensure a smooth flow of information and support continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating a lift truck or powered pallet jack and may serve in the role of 5S Leader, actively participating in audits and team concepts. The successful candidate will also perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment and other operator-driven reliability duties as assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude to perform various tasks in the bakery environment.
  • Ability to continuously lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a bakery or food production environment.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Familiarity with safety and quality programs in a manufacturing setting.
