About the position

The 3rd Shift Floating Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining various corrugated manufacturing machines, ensuring safe and efficient production processes. This role involves monitoring machine operations, troubleshooting defects, performing routine maintenance, and training entry-level crew members. The operator must adhere to safety and quality protocols while maintaining a clean work environment and meeting production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following indicated work methods.
  • Makes ready, operates and maintains corrugated manufacturing press machine.
  • Observes and monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and corrects product defects caused by the machine.
  • Performs routine adjustments during the machine run and maintains production throughout the run.
  • Sets up and operates machine meeting established published specifications.
  • Ensures all orders are completed to specifications including special instructions if applicable.
  • Identifies and makes basic repairs to the machine.
  • Completes basic preventive maintenance requirements according to operation standards.
  • Runs the machine meeting production goals.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Trains entry-level crewmembers and others as needed.
  • Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Complies with all safety, quality policies, and protocols at all times.
  • Keeps appropriate records and reports accurately as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by managers or supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • One-year industrial experience, preferably in a corrugated packaging setting.
  • Highly adaptable to various duties.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays.
  • Two years or more experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to problem solve with minimal assistance.
  • Effective communication skills with employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to interpret and understand factory master.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and basic arithmetic operations.
  • Ability to learn and understand machine line up and operations of corrugated manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Dependable and reliable.
