About the position

As a 3rd Shift General Laborer in the Mix Room at Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, you will play a crucial role in supporting the ice cream making process. Your primary responsibilities will include blending ingredients according to the specified order of addition, managing flavoring mix tanks post-pasteurization, and ensuring that all equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized. You will be expected to maintain the highest levels of quality, safety, and hygiene throughout your work, adhering to standard operating procedures and regulations such as GMP, HACCP, and QMS. In this role, you will work closely with the Pasteurizer on the HTST and follow the direction of the Process Control Coordinator in the straining room. Your tasks will involve straining fruit and flavoring tanks, obtaining forklift certification, and managing rework processes. You will also be responsible for conducting shift hand-off meetings, monitoring department metrics related to quality and safety, and ensuring minimal waste during production. Your performance will be measured by your ability to maintain accurate inventories, troubleshoot issues, and adhere to quality and technical systems. You will be expected to act with a sense of urgency, make timely decisions, and find root causes and solutions to problems as they arise. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to train others and contribute to a team-focused environment that prioritizes impeccable hygiene standards and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ice cream making process by blending ingredients according to the order of addition.
  • Manage flavoring mix tanks post-pasteurization and ensure proper cleaning and sanitation.
  • Follow the direction of the Process Control Coordinator in the straining room.
  • Strain fruit and flavoring tanks as required.
  • Obtain forklift certification and operate forklifts safely.
  • Conduct shift hand-off meetings and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Monitor and understand all GMP/HACCP/QMS and product safety regulations.
  • Keep waste to a minimum and maintain accurate inventories.
  • Act with a sense of urgency to accomplish goals and tasks.
  • Make timely decisions and find root causes and solutions to problems.
  • Train others as assigned and support team development.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience is required.
  • One year of related experience is preferred.
  • Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, math, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) is a plus.
