About the position

The 3rd Shift Gluer Helper at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) plays a crucial role in the corrugated packaging production process. This position involves preparing equipment and materials, assisting in machine operations, and ensuring quality control while working collaboratively with team members. The helper is expected to adapt to various tasks as needed, maintain safety standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the production line.

Responsibilities

• Prepare area with equipment and/or materials according to order requirements.
• Understand and follow instructions on factory card and from the operator.
• Help locate masters when not present at the machine center.
• Work with other helpers and crew members for maximum efficiency of operation.
• Communicate quality-related issues back to the operator and/or assistant operator.
• Set up and operate bundling/squaring machine or case sealer when required.
• Catch and pack boxes, and set up master cartons.
• Move between machine centers/areas as dictated by production needs and supervisory direction.
• Input information into the system to create load tags.
• Switch duties with other crew members, including feeding, pulling, stacking, and packing as required.
• Work independently and within a team, effectively communicating with crew members.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and work rules, including safety and housekeeping standards.
• Be willing to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
• Willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and around machinery.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math functions.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior work experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
• Experience working as a crewmember on a machine crew.
• Demonstrated experience as a leader and/or team member.
• Prior experience in Folding Gluing or similar work.
