About the position

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for incoming inspection of molded and purchased parts to ensure conformity to company engineering and quality standards. Primary focus will be completing inspections in an expedited manner in support of the manufacturing process. This position may also require that the product is promptly and accurately put into the warehouse after passing incoming inspection and QA audit. Secondary focus may include first article inspections (FAI) on purchased metal and plastic components.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections per documented instructions using MicroVu vision system, calipers, micrometers, or other devices.
  • Examine material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and short shots.
  • Measure and electronically record dimensional data to ensure part compliance with part print.
  • Compare product with written standards such as print specifications to ensure conformance with product requirements.
  • Communicate status of part examination to the Tooling, Molding, and Quality teams.
  • Generate quality advisement documentation and provide reports to QA Engineers or Supervisor.
  • Generate emails to report findings and follow up with disposition of stock.
  • Work with warehouse personnel to place components into stock after QA approval.
  • Complete calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
  • Reject defective parts, and mark type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
  • Assist in investigation of defective parts using written standards and data collected from the molding process to determine the root cause of the defect.
  • Provide support to assembly, molding, kitting, warehouse, or other departments when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (written or verbal).

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate's degree in engineering or science preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed part and assembly prints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.
  • Good communication skills and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • MicroVu or other measurement equipment experience preferred.
