About the position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at Buchanan County Health Center is responsible for coordinating and performing a variety of complex laboratory tests essential for diagnosing and treating diseases. This generalist role encompasses multiple areas of laboratory science, including microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and phlebotomy.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform laboratory tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Conduct tests in microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and phlebotomy.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and safety standards.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and technology.
- Document and report test results accurately and timely.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science, chemical biological or related degree.
- Board certification (ASCP, NCA, AMT) as a MLS, MT, CLS, or MLT is required.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- Demonstrated competence in laboratory procedures.
- A minimum of 6 months clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Significant skill and knowledge in Laboratory Information System (LIS) applications / automated technology.
