About the position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for coordinating and performing a variety of complex laboratory tests that are essential for diagnosing and treating diseases. This generalist role encompasses multiple areas of laboratory science, including microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and phlebotomy.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform laboratory tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Participate in microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and phlebotomy tasks.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and technology.
- Document and report test results accurately and timely.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science, chemical biological or related degree.
- Board certification (ASCP, NCA, AMT) as a MLS, MT, CLS, or MLT.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated competence in laboratory procedures.
- Minimum of 6 months clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Significant skill and knowledge in Laboratory Information System (LIS) applications / automated technology desired.
