About the position

The 4-H Program Manager for Rockingham County is responsible for facilitating the growth of the county's 4-H program and supporting the life-skill development of youth through effective recruitment, training, and guidance of volunteers. This role involves organizing educational programming and community partnerships, ensuring inclusivity, and managing program pathways centered around STEM, civic engagement, and healthy living. The position may also include administrative responsibilities within the county office.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, guide, and support 4-H volunteers and community partners to facilitate educational events.
  • Ensure risk management and child safety protocols are followed in all programming.
  • Support and coordinate county-based entry points and follow-up experiences for youth and families along 4-H pathways.
  • Collaborate with 4-H field specialists for program pathway development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Serve as a member of a state team to assist with the development and coordination of statewide events and activities.
  • Track enrollment information, coordinate evaluation data collection, and complete timely reporting for programs.
  • Monitor 4-H club finances and analyze program effectiveness.
  • Identify individual professional development goals and seek relevant training.
  • Engage with local stakeholders and participate in county Extension office work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as education or human services with two years of experience, or a master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional or volunteer experience in administering educational or community-based youth development programs.
  • Effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Computer skills and ability to reflect on personal bias to be welcoming to all participants and volunteers.
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Valid N.H. driver's license or other effective personal transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing and managing volunteers.
  • Experience managing youth development programs.
  • Experience with 4-H or similar youth development programs and/or other Cooperative Extension programming.
  • Competence with social media.
  • Experience working with diverse, vulnerable, or under-served populations.
