About the position

The Cheese Belt Operator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of cheese production belts, maintaining logs, and adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role involves monitoring production processes, conducting quality checks, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. The operator will work closely with the Cheese Team Leader and assist in training new team members while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily salt calibration is done.
  • Log lot numbers of ingredients in the appropriate log sheet.
  • Be familiar with different recipes and contact Team Leader if actual events do not match the recipe.
  • Ensure salt blower readings are done through production and logged.
  • Run the required samples and contact Team Leader if any results are out of range.
  • Record data into the Belt log sheet, HMI Belt Report and CIP log.
  • Ensure the belt is prepped correctly before CIP, call for help if needed.
  • Ensure proper CIP of both DMM and SMC.
  • Ensure proper COP of the chute.
  • Ensure the belt is properly inspected after CIP.
  • Ensure that the production schedule is adhered to.
  • Record any issues with belts, including in-process changes/salt changes.
  • Ensure start-up and in-process micro samples are taken.
  • Ensure that Phage samples are collected and frozen.
  • Ensure environmental cleaning logs are completed and documented.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate assignments.

Nice-to-haves
