About the position

The Intake Research Analyst at Nixon Peabody LLP plays a crucial role in conducting due diligence on potential and existing clients, as well as associated parties. This position is essential for evaluating new business opportunities while adhering to prevailing ethical rules and internal policies. The Analyst is tasked with proactively identifying risks and concerns, which allows attorneys and Firm management to make informed decisions regarding client engagement. The role is designed to support the Firm's commitment to high standards of integrity and professionalism in all client interactions. In this position, the Intake Research Analyst will perform a high volume of timely and thorough online research. This includes reviewing litigation history, media coverage, sanctions, and other determinants that assess client worthiness. The Analyst will gather, interpret, and present organized summaries of relevant research findings to attorneys and staff, aiding in the assessment of the Firm's potential involvement with various parties in connection with new and existing business, lateral hires, and special projects. Effective communication is key, as the Analyst will collaborate with attorneys, secretaries, and team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of reports and due diligence. The role also involves working on larger and more complex projects, striving to improve processes, and taking the initiative to identify issues and propose solutions. Staying current with research techniques and available resources is vital for providing high-quality research. The Analyst must strictly adhere to confidentiality rules regarding client and Firm matters and may assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct due diligence on potential and existing clients and associated parties.
  • Perform a high volume of timely and thorough online research, including review of litigation, media, sanctions, and other determinants of client worthiness.
  • Gather, interpret, and accurately present organized summaries of relevant research findings to attorneys and staff.
  • Communicate with attorneys, secretaries, and team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of reports and due diligence.
  • Collaborate with teammates and others in the Firm on larger and more complex projects.
  • Strive to improve processes while identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • Remain current in research techniques and available resources relevant to providing high-quality research.
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality rules regarding client and Firm matters.
  • Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a legal or professional services setting conducting research.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • General knowledge of legal terminology, litigation structure, and legal processes.
