About the position

The Software Engineering Manager at Azure Summit Technology will lead a dynamic team responsible for developing high-performance RF hardware, firmware, and software products. This role combines functional management with direct technical leadership, focusing on recruiting, training, and mentoring staff while also overseeing software engineering projects related to RF systems. The position is based in Fairfax, Virginia, with occasional travel to support customer activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical personnel in a department of approximately 5 to 10 staff members.
• Conduct staff management activities including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Lead software engineering technical work, including project planning and status tracking.
• Define detailed tasks and estimate time and effort required for tasks.
• Report periodically on task status and project progress.
• Oversee design, development, modification, integration, and evaluation of complex signals intelligence, radar, and communications systems.
• Perform all aspects of software engineering including requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, and installation.

Requirements

• US citizenship due to the nature of the work and contract requirement.
• Active DoD TOP SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET SCI.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years experience with Java or C/C++.
• Minimum 5 years experience leading development and integration of prototype RF systems in communications, radar, signals intelligence, or electronic warfare domains.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a functional software engineering manager.

Nice-to-haves

• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a relevant field.
• Minimum 10 years experience with Java or C/C++.
• Minimum 10 years experience leading development and integration of prototype and/or production RF mission systems.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills with a record of success in writing winning proposals.
