About the position

The Whitefish School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate 4th Grade Long Term Substitute Teacher for Muldown Elementary School. This position is expected to last from approximately March 31, 2025, to June 5, 2025. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a love of learning among students and supporting their intellectual, emotional, psychological, and physical growth. The educator will be part of a collaborative team focused on raising student achievement and providing a rigorous curriculum in a supportive school culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and leadership to enable students to develop a love of learning.
  • Take holistic accountability for student success, owning each student's academic outcomes.
  • Model and reinforce the school's core values with colleagues, students, and the community.
  • Devote necessary time and energy to master the craft of teaching.
  • Be open to innovative teaching approaches and feedback from colleagues and administration.
  • Participate in professional development programs, including data analysis and best practice sessions.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Communicate with parents regarding students' progress and school programs.
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities.
  • Create an effective learning environment with engaging displays and materials.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students and maintain appropriate records.
  • Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities.

Requirements

  • Valid Montana teaching licensure with an elementary endorsement.
  • Successful experience as a classroom or pre-service teacher.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Ability to relate to and work with children and adolescents.
  • Effective communication skills with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching at the elementary level.
  • Experience supervising or coaching extra-curricular activities or athletics.
  • Experience teaching in a multi-age classroom.
