About the position

Randstad's client in Washington, D.C. is seeking a skilled Senior Power BI and IBM Cognos Report Developer to join their team. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, transforming and modeling data, and creating visually engaging and interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI. The developer will also work on maintaining and updating existing IBM Cognos reports, ensuring data accuracy, and contributing to the organization's data-driven decision-making process. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of data architecture, experience in managing end-to-end Power BI projects, and the ability to lead workshops for gathering business requirements. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models. You will utilize Power Query for data transformation and DAX scripting for performance optimization. Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity in all BI solutions is crucial. You will manage end-to-end Power BI projects, from requirements gathering to deployment, and design and develop enterprise reports and dashboards using IBM Cognos. Additionally, you will update and maintain existing reports in IBM Cognos, create and manage SQL queries for data analysis, and stay current with industry trends and best practices in BI. You will also be responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting BI tools, developing semantic layers for the organization's BI tools, delivering end-user training and support, implementing and administering BI security models, and mentoring and providing technical coaching to less-experienced team members.
