As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Database Administrator to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity, security, and availability of multiple databases for one of our government clients. The Database Administrator will be responsible for a range of duties including disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and monitoring of data. The successful candidate will administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the databases. This position requires evaluating and recommending available database management system (DBMS) products, performing database and software life-cycle activities, and ensuring compliance with business requirements. The role also involves organizing and formatting data for efficient query and storage processes, and performing administration tasks for Oracle, SQL Server, and SYBASE databases. Candidates must possess strong skills in Oracle and Postgres, with a minimum of ten years of experience as a DBA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required, although four years of additional DBA experience may substitute for this educational requirement. The position also requires an active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph, and candidates must be U.S. citizens to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the integrity, security, and availability of multiple databases.
  • Performs disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, and monitoring of data.
  • Administers, maintains, develops, and implements policies and procedures for database security and integrity.
  • Evaluates and recommends available database management system (DBMS) products.
  • Performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure system performance and availability.
  • Organizes and formats data for efficient query and storage processes.
  • Performs administration for Oracle, SQL Server, and SYBASE databases.
  • Establishes and maintains database user accounts.
  • Coordinates database architecture changes with Database Engineers (DBEs).
  • Directs the monitoring, administration, and implementation of performance on database systems.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a DBA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of additional DBA experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
  • Strong skills in Oracle and Postgres databases.
  • Experience with SQL Server and SYBASE.
