About the position

The 5th Grade Dual Immersion Spanish Teacher will serve under the immediate direction of the site administrator and will be responsible for teaching students in various subjects including reading, language arts, mathematics, social science, general science, health, art, physical education, and music. The teacher will utilize the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and will develop programs and instructional materials tailored to meet the diverse needs of each pupil. This role requires the establishment of effective procedures and techniques to maintain proper control in the classroom, thereby enhancing the learning experience for all students. In addition to delivering instruction, the teacher will create and maintain a suitable learning environment that fosters academic and social growth. Responsibilities include evaluating pupils' academic progress, keeping appropriate records, preparing progress reports, and communicating with parents regarding individual pupil progress. The teacher will work collaboratively with available professional staff to identify pupil needs and strive towards fulfilling those needs. Attendance records must be maintained, and the teacher will administer group standardized tests in accordance with District and State testing programs. The position also involves performing reasonable non-teaching duties as assigned, participating in curriculum development and related programs at both the school and District levels. The teacher may plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals. Continuous professional development is essential, and the teacher must maintain professional competence through participation in self-selected professional growth activities. A valid California elementary teaching credential is required for this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
  • Must have one of the following certifications issued by CTC authorizing primary language instruction in Spanish: Bilingual Authorization, BCLAD (or in the process of obtaining), Bilingual Cross-Cultural Specialist Credential, or Bilingual Certificate of Competence.

  • Credential-Clear or Preliminary, Multiple Subject required.
  • Copy of Spanish BCLAD required.
  • Copy of English Learner Authorization (CLAD or equivalent) required.
  • NCLB Compliance required.
  • Copy of transcripts showing evidence of a BA degree required.
  • Copy of CBEST and CSET required.
  • 2-3 letters of recommendation required.
  • Must provide TB results completed within the last year.
