About the position

The 5th Grade Teacher at Pratt Elementary is responsible for creating a positive and effective learning environment for students. This role involves planning and implementing lesson plans that align with Oklahoma Academic Standards, maintaining classroom discipline, and providing individualized instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will also collaborate with other professionals and engage with parents to support student learning and development.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement classroom procedures to maximize student learning.
  • Prepare detailed weekly lesson plans consistent with Oklahoma Academic Standards.
  • Comply with and implement Individualized Education Plans and interventions.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment.
  • Handle routine classroom discipline fairly and justly.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies governing student conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and professional development.
  • Maintain complete and accurate student records, including attendance and performance.
  • Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding progress.
  • Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
  • Use data to guide instruction and communicate progress to parents.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed.
  • Create a technology-enriched environment to support learning.
  • Plan and coordinate with teacher assistants, parents, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to improve student academic progress.
  • Provide Distance Learning as necessary.

Requirements

  • Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s) Elementary Certification.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Experience in developing and implementing lesson plans.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain accurate student records and provide feedback.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Familiarity with Oklahoma Academic Standards.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
