About the position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to join our exceptional team at Waverly Grade School. This individual will inspire and challenge students to reach their full potential while contributing to a positive and collaborative school culture. The 5th Grade Teacher will design and implement engaging lessons that build foundational skills and foster a love of learning, preparing students for success in middle school and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality, standards-based lessons in core subjects such as Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Social Studies.
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and active participation.
• Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative methods, providing timely feedback and intervention to support academic achievement.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment that supports learning and social-emotional development.
• Work closely with colleagues, parents, and administration to ensure alignment with school and district goals.
• Engage in ongoing learning opportunities, including professional development provided by the district, to stay current with educational best practices.
• Participate in school and community events to build strong relationships with families and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Kansas teaching license with an endorsement in elementary education or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Kansas Academic Standards and an understanding of best practices in elementary instruction.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.
