About the position

The 6-12 Art Teacher position at Summers County Comprehensive High School is responsible for planning and implementing a standards-based curriculum in alignment with state standards. The teacher will set high academic and behavioral standards in the classroom, uphold school rules, and ensure individual student achievement. The role includes implementing technology skills, accommodating students with special needs, and planning co-curricular activities. The teacher will maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with students and parents, and engage in professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a standards-based curriculum based on applicable state standards.
  • Set high classroom standards of academic achievement and behavior.
  • Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs in alignment with state standards.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Strive to implement the school and district philosophy and goals of education and instruction.
  • Be accountable for individual student achievement.
  • Implement technology skills.
  • Implement applicable accommodations and modifications documented with students' IEP, 504 Plan, SAT, or other relevant documentation.
  • Plan and implement a collaborative model with special education students and teachers.
  • Plan and implement designated co-curricular activities and/or programs at the school.
  • Plan and implement teaching methods that address learners at all levels and with unique needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality as stated by county, state, and federal law.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by county, state, and federal law.
  • Demonstrate strong working/communication skills and availability with students, parents, and peers.
  • Implement any other programs designated by the principal for school improvement.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Provide for professional growth through various methods including reading, coursework, seminars, and conferences.
  • Maintain professional work habits.
  • Supervise students at all times.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or designee.

Requirements

  • Holds appropriate certification in assigned field.
