About the position

The Production Manufacturing Technician position at National Gypsum Company involves operating and troubleshooting production line equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and performing routine inspections. The role requires effective communication with team members and management, as well as the ability to lift heavy items and maintain a clean workspace. This full-time position operates on a 12-hour shift schedule, with overtime and weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and communicate safety hazards and quality deficiencies to management.
  • Know and comply with all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and adjust production line equipment.
  • Perform production equipment inspections to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Communicate repair functions and needs with Shift Leader and Maintenance Department.
  • Safely and efficiently operate a forklift.
  • Perform routine quality control tests and enter QC data into the quality software system.
  • Think clearly and troubleshoot production equipment during time-sensitive outages.
  • Routine lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 65 pounds.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Perform production line changeover and set-ups of packaging line machinery.
  • Chemical compounding may be necessary.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and detail-oriented.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Fast learner with a strong work ethic.
  • Self-starter, able to take direction.
  • Mechanically inclined.

Nice-to-haves

  • OSHA and/or quality control certifications - Preferred.
  • Ability to pass a computer-based general aptitude test.
