About the position

The Production Manufacturing Technician at National Gypsum Company is responsible for operating and troubleshooting production line equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. This role involves routine inspections, quality control tests, and effective communication with team members and management. The technician will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring physical stamina and mechanical aptitude to handle various production tasks.

Responsibilities

• Identify and communicate safety hazards and quality deficiencies to management.
• Know and comply with all safety and quality policies and procedures.
• Operate production line equipment, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments as necessary.
• Perform production equipment inspections to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Communicate repair functions and needs with the Shift Leader and Maintenance Department.
• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift.
• Conduct routine quality control tests and enter QC data into the quality software system.
• Think clearly and troubleshoot production equipment during time-sensitive outages.
• Perform routine lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting items up to 65 pounds.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• Perform production line changeover and set-ups of packaging line machinery.
• Chemical compounding may be necessary.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in a production manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize work.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills with co-workers and management.
• Detail-oriented with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Mechanically inclined with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to pass a computer-based general aptitude test.
