About the position

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Wellstar involves maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment and systems within the healthcare environment. This role is essential for ensuring the functionality of various systems, including pumps, motors, and doors, while also performing preventative maintenance and responding to service requests. The position requires a blend of technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work, contributing to the overall health and well-being of the community served by Wellstar.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to telephoned service requests and detailed project work orders on a daily basis.
  • Identify the complexity of work required, tools necessary, and spare parts needed for repairs.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and materials and submit for approval.
  • Make timely repairs and document completion in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist in maintaining critical spare parts inventory and requisition replacements as needed.
  • Rekey locks and repair automatic and manual doors, including locks, knobs, and handles.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance as specified in work requests and follow through until completion.
  • Report deficiencies noted during preventative maintenance to the Coordinator.
  • Turn in completed PM documentation promptly to ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Conduct monthly tours of assigned work zones to identify required repairs and notify the Coordinator in writing.
  • Inspect fire and smoke walls above ceilings to ensure compliance with Code and report necessary repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in general mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Basic knowledge in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and related systems.
  • Good mechanical repair skills and light electrical skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, and pneumatic control air systems.
  • Knowledge in light carpentry and sheetrock work and repairs.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and understand NFPA and Life Safety Codes.
  • Computer literate and able to use diagnostic equipment related to maintenance tasks.
