About the position

The Assistant Manager at Goodwill Industries is responsible for supporting the Retail Store Manager in the daily operations of a high-volume retail variety store. This role focuses on enhancing customer and donor relationships, maximizing retail market share, and ensuring compliance with Goodwill's mission and policies. The Assistant Manager will also supervise staff, manage inventory, and maintain merchandising displays while promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the store managers in the development and operations of the assigned store to maximize retail market share and donations.
  • Work under the supervision of the Retail Store Manager to learn all functions of operating a retail store.
  • Relieve manager on holidays, sick leave, etc., and act as manager in the manager's absence after completing Management Training.
  • Supervise associates and clients in the day-to-day operations of a retail variety store in the manager's absence.
  • Accurately operate the cash register, including validating methods of payment and balancing cash drawers.
  • Maintain monthly inventories, make daily bank deposits, and prepare daily reports accurately and timely.
  • Maintain merchandising displays and coordinate sales promotion activities.
  • Process, stock, merchandise, colorize, size, tag, barb, and date merchandise.
  • Perform general housekeeping, custodial, and janitorial duties as assigned.
  • Attend all training and established managers meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensure compliance with established Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Assist at other locations as needed.
  • Work with the entire store team to maximize growth of the location.
  • Adhere to all attendance policies and all LP policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of retail experience or experience in a relevant field is highly preferred.
  • Exemplary management skills including planning, organizing, scheduling, directing, merchandising, training, recruiting, and customer service.
  • Valid Driver's License.
