About the position

The Senior Health Information Compliance and Interoperability Specialist is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and oversight of health information management and interoperability initiatives. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, requiring a deep understanding of interoperability standards such as FHIR. The Program Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement and manage health data exchange systems, aligning them with regulatory requirements and project milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of health information management and interoperability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding health information.
  • Guide project teams through the Federal Advance Planning Document (APD) process and California Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL).
  • Oversee workload tracking using tools like Jira and ServiceNow.
  • Maintain documentation through platforms such as Confluence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage health data exchange systems.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a lead role involving planning, development, implementation, and management of health information and interoperability programs.
  • 3 years of experience applying federal health information management or interoperability regulations to IT systems.
  • 2 years of experience with the Federal Advance Planning Document (APD) process and California Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL).
  • 1 year of experience with Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Participation in national workgroups focused on advancing health information and interoperability standards.
  • Experience working with California state departments.
  • Familiarity with state guidelines like the Statewide Health Information Policy Manual (SHIPM) and State Health Information Guidance (SHIG).
  • Experience as a principal author for Planning or Implementation of Advanced Planning Documents.
  • Experience with project controls such as the California Project Management Framework (CA-PMF) or PAL.
  • Experience with platforms like Jira, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
