About the position

The 7th/8th Grade Social Studies/Art Teacher position at Apollo Middle School involves developing and implementing a curriculum program that aligns with District educational goals and objectives. The teacher will be responsible for creating a safe and respectful classroom environment, assessing student needs, and modifying instruction to meet those needs. The role includes planning and organizing classroom materials, utilizing classroom management techniques, and collaborating with other educators and specialists to promote student learning.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor student behavior in various settings including the classroom, playground, and during field trips.
• Establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere that ensures the emotional and physical safety of students.
• Assess student needs and develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans.
• Modify instruction to meet the needs of each child.
• Plan, organize, and display classroom materials appropriately.
• Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain organization and a productive learning environment.
• Implement instructional techniques to encourage and motivate students.
• Evaluate written materials including assignments and tests.
• Analyze and evaluate student progress and course curriculum.
• Inform parents of student progress and instructional methods.
• Collaborate with specialists to assist students with special needs.
• Monitor the activities of teacher assistants and classroom volunteers.
• Order classroom supplies and instructional materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 Teaching Certificate.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and State certification requirements.
