About the position
The 8th Grade Assistant Football Coach at East Minico Middle School is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in developing students' athletic skills, promoting good sportsmanship, and ensuring a safe and effective sports program. This seasonal position focuses on the overall welfare and development of student-athletes, while adhering to school policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Organize, coordinate, and participate in the school site interscholastic sports program.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities regularly.
- Maintain a consistent, positive, disciplined, and competitive program for all students.
- Travel with students and supervise the team during athletic competitions.
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior in all phases of the athletic program.
- Explain and enforce rules and regulations regarding player conditioning and training for health and safety.
- Comply with policies and rules established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, School District, and IHSSAA.
- Work closely with the Head Coach to ensure smooth operation of the program.
- Perform other coaching-related tasks as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Building Principal.
- Observe sports participants during practice to detect and correct errors in activity procedures.
Requirements
- Knowledge of policies, regulations, and procedures pertaining to interscholastic sports programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Ability to provide specialized resource support for a creative interscholastic sports program.
- Ability to analyze and assess sports program needs and offer recommendations for improvements.
- Ability to establish and maintain community and public relationships.
Benefits
- Seasonal position with compensation ranging from $1,160.00 to $1,700.00 per unit.
