About the position

The 8th Grade ELA Teacher at Sierra K-8 School is responsible for developing and implementing a curriculum program that aligns with district educational goals. This role involves creating a safe and respectful classroom environment, assessing student needs, and adapting instructional methods to meet diverse learning requirements. The teacher will also evaluate student progress and collaborate with parents and educational specialists to enhance student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor student behavior in various settings including the classroom, playground, and during field trips.
• Establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere that ensures the emotional and physical safety of students.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans tailored to student needs.
• Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain organization and a productive learning environment.
• Implement instructional techniques to encourage and motivate students.
• Evaluate written materials and analyze student progress in relation to the curriculum.
• Inform parents about student progress and instructional methods that may assist their children.
• Collaborate with specialists to support students with special needs.
• Order classroom supplies and instructional materials as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid Arizona Elementary 1-8 Teaching Certificate.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Knowledge of State and Federal educational standards.
• Understanding of developmental levels of school-age children.
• Familiarity with various teaching techniques and classroom management methods.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in middle school teaching.
• Familiarity with the curriculum standards specific to Arizona.
