About the position

The 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Crane Middle School is responsible for educating students in social studies, fostering their development into mature and responsible individuals. The role involves planning and implementing a curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students, creating a conducive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated locations and specific times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of students.
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Recognizes and evaluates learning and other disabilities of students and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends requisite staff meetings and serves on staff committees as needed.
  • Performs other necessary duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Elementary or Secondary Arizona teaching certificate and appropriate endorsements as required.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $56,150.00 - $72,150.00 per year.
  • Performance pay based on effectiveness and professional development completion.
  • Supplemental pay eligibility based on plan criteria.
